This was an amazing event held at Soul Sanctuary on November 30th as planned. Thank you Amy Allen for that wonderful buffet of chocolate. Many guests went home with little gift packages of delicious chocolate. We were honored to have many of the original Search Committee organizers join us at this: Dave Loewen, Harold Jantz and John Epp who helped us remember those early days. Everyone who came offered so much to us. Thank you for coming and changing the day from a nightmare memory to a day filled with gratitude for all those who have and continue to support us.
Underlying this, our story of tragedy, has been the amazing story of people stepping into our lives as truly angels unaware.
I have often wished I would have kept a list of every name of those who cared for us, whether it was a card, a flower, a special encouraging word, a prayer, a smile, a tear, a verse, a poem, a conversation, gifts, support, books and of course "chocolate" -- the list would be endless not only of the names of the people as well as what they chose to do for us. It seemed always so appropriate, often original and always just in time.
During the trial, I did crave chocolate and mentioned it in my blog. We then received a generous outpouring of chocolate that continues to this day. I've always maintained that there is a chocolate high of endorphins, so needed during times of grief and sadness. The beauty of chocolate is that it is so much more, it is also a symbol of love and celebration.
That is why we have chosen chocolate as a means of remembering our friends. And this is what this day will be all about. Because in cherishing friends
and each other, we are remembering how Candace loved her friends. It was her theme - her passion.
Oh yes -- and this chocolate fest won't be only delicious as chocolate always is. It is going to be healthy.
So whether you are a past friend or a future friend, do come and join us in remembering Candace and what she stands for.
Thank you
